Ithaca's Vision

Ithaca Business Media is an integrated business media company with a profound belief in the most compelling means of human communication – talking to each other face to face.

For businesses, other means of marketing may come and go but one method remains a constant – the need to meet real people in real time to conduct trade.

And precisely because the internet is beginning to eat into traditional interruption-marketing like advertising and direct mail, events, exhibitions and other forms of direct one-to-one communication are more important then they have ever been. Live events are the perfect complement to online marketing campaigns, adding a depth of experience that simply can’t be created using any other form of marketing.

Internet marketers – including ourselves – love to talk about the new wave of 'permission' marketing tools driven by the online revolution. But the ultimate form of permission marketing – and the only one where the customer physically seeks out the supplier, rather then the other way around – is events and exhibitions.

For business media companies to thrive in the digital age, therefore, we believe they need to be two things. First, they need to be net - savvy and, second, they need to be committed to the kind of irreplaceable human interaction that only takes place at live events. Ithaca is both.

What We Do

Simple really: we connect buyers and sellers in business-to-business markets. To achieve this, we own a string of highly successful events, web communities and magazines.

We choose our markets with as much care as we run our products and have a healthy balance of powerful and established brands (like Leisure Industry Week and Internet World) and exciting, dynamic products in fast emerging markets (like London Calling).

As a general principle, we strive to only run products that are number one in the markets they serve or are on a trajectory to become so. That’s because we believe that it’s quality that really counts in the modern world of fierce competition and lots of choice.
